The year is almost over and I’ve been feeling sentimental. It’s been a weird (good weird, but weird) year and looking through the WGN archives has reminded me what a big part food played in it. Not in an “eat the feelings” kind of way….more like, a drinking buddy. In some cases, literally. So it only seems fair to look back on some favorite posts, remember the life events that accompanied them, and turn it up to 11.

We started the year off right.

I started reading books. Or at least talking about them in a literary manner.

I ate my way through Pittsburgh and Puerto Rico.

One of my best friends got married and I messed up the dessert.

We survived another NYC summer and got by without turning on the stove.

I made pickles! And used the leftover brine for picklebacks!
I had the best birthday ever. The thought of trying to top it next year makes me nervous. WGN also celebrated it’s first birthday…which means it should be getting a job soon, right?

I made these pretty much at least two times a month.

I made these a lot too. Hey, everybody needs their staples.

It is so much fun to look back through your blog. Have a great New Year.
Thank you! And a happy new year in advance as well!
